At the beginning of the year Miss Holden, Miss Chapman and myself signed our classes up for a "Get NZ Writing' initiative by School Kit NZ. We weren't sure exactly what was involved but knew that we had to write to another school and that we would receive writing back from the same school.
Our School Kit was delivered to school last week and we have been busy getting our class identity poster completed. We now know that our task is to write metaphors about ourselves on postcards to send back to a year 5&6 class at Taradale School.
This week there has been some excitement in the Senior Room, as we received a parcel from Taradale School in Napier. We opened the package with anticipation and found the classroom identity poster and 32 hand written postcards with beautiful metaphors written on them. With all 32 postcards making a puzzle on the reverse side which says "Talk with people who see the world differently" You can see the metaphors, the puzzle and the class identity poster on our classroom door!
We are now in the process of writing our own metaphors to describe ourselves! It has been great to get some inspiration from Room 9 at Taradale Primary School.
