Paper Planes Statistics

This week we have been doing a paper planes statistics project. Students could group up or do this individually. Their task was to create one mock paper plane and then four more paper planes changing one variable each time they made another plane. A variable is something that changes from the mock plane.

Students had to test fly their planes are make sure they were going to fly properly. They were then able to change or alter their planes before the measuring stage.

At the measuring stage of the project students had to fly each of their 5 planes 3 times and measure each of the distances. Students then had to find the average distance flown in metres of each plane.

On Thursday we had a competition to see whose plane flew the furtherest. One of the boys' groups; Brayden, Lachie and James took out the competition with 1st, 2nd and 3rd for 3 of their 5 planes.
