Today the year 5-8 students had Harris Anderson come and talk to them about Leadership Week and Dream Team.
Our lead up work about Sir Peter Blake and what it means to be a leader came in very handy when answering questions Harris asked and he was very impressed with the knowledge we already had about Sir Peter Blake.
Harris talked about a range of high profile New Zealand leaders. Sir Edmund Hilary, Lydia Ko, Helen Clarke, Sir Peter Jackson, Don Merton were all leaders in the own right and have helped people all over the world. He also talked a lot about the work he does as a Geologist and the field trips he has been on with the University of Otago to study climate change.
Harris asked the children about their dreams and aspirations for the future. It was pleasing to see that the children have thought about what they see in their future and the dreams they have for themselves.
We very much appreciated the inspiring visit and talk from Harris and he has opened our eyes to what we can be doing to be effective leaders in our school and community.
