Lachie's Morning Programme - Trixie

This morning Lachie and Paul brought in their wee 1 1/2 year old Jack Russell/Foxy Cross dog, Trixie!

Trixie was very excited to be at school, I think it was lucky she was on her lead otherwise we may not have caught her!

Ashley's morning programme

Earlier in the year Ashley played the Chanter for us and has now advanced to the Goose. Yesterday Ashley played us a tune on the Goose. He has been practicing after school to get better.

Paper Planes Statistics

This week we have been doing a paper planes statistics project. Students could group up or do this individually. Their task was to create one mock paper plane and then four more paper planes changing one variable each time they made another plane. A variable is something that changes from the mock plane.

Students had to test fly their planes are make sure they were going to fly properly. They were then able to change or alter their planes before the measuring stage.

At the measuring stage of the project students had to fly each of their 5 planes 3 times and measure each of the distances. Students then had to find the average distance flown in metres of each plane.

On Thursday we had a competition to see whose plane flew the furtherest. One of the boys' groups; Brayden, Lachie and James took out the competition with 1st, 2nd and 3rd for 3 of their 5 planes.

Disco!

What a fabulous night we had on Friday! It was great to see everybody up dancing and having a great time. There is still plenty of hype about the Disco back in class today. Well done to Ally, Amy and Lachie for their organisation!

The only photos I got were of the limbo.

Sports Activator-Touch

Last Wednesday Greer was back at school, this time to teach us some more touch skills. We worked on our passing, defence, attacking and then we got time for a quick game at the end. We are really enjoying all the touch practice we are getting at school.

Trip to Telfords

On Friday 9th September we enjoyed a trip to Ken and Kate's amazing historical home as part of our Then and Now inquiry unit. We got to look around the inside of their house, one side of which was used for maids and servants in the olden days. This side is not used so much now. Ken and Kate live in the other side of the house. It was really cool to see lots of old things still in the house. We had a great visit and could see lots of similarities with Olveston House in Dunedin, where we visited a few weeks ago.
Thank you very much for allowing us to come and visit your home Ken and Kate, we learnt lots!

Then and Now - Hamish Visiting

Today we had a visit from Hamish as part of our inquiry unit - Then and Now. He brought in lots of old things for us to look at and he talked about how things have changed over time. We found this very interesting and we learnt heaps. It was great to have Hamish here, thanks heaps for coming!
